Karolina Sobel explores the perception of visually impaired persons from Karlsruhe. Her work consists of a video installation and fourteen prints installed in a room, five of which are mental maps created by visually impaired people to the question, how does one move through the city of Karlsruhe.

Werner, Lars, Gabriele, Ines, and Liane have the same every day difficulty. In order to move around barrier-free or to communicate, they use an aid specific to their requirements – devices which compensate as much as possible for their lack or limitation in their vision, easing their day-to-day coping skills.

The work was shown at the Orgelfabrik Durlach (Durlach Organ Factory) in the context of Transmission arts festival from April 8–24, 2016.
