The winners of the competition for the best posters from the German-speaking region of 2018 were announced at the jury session in Berlin on 21/22 February 2019.
Eight of the winning posters were designed by (former) members and students of the Communication Design department at the HfG Karlsruhe:
The jury with Prof. Anette Lenz (Paris, chair), Anna Haas (Zurich), Astrid Seme (Vienna), Johanna Siebein and Prof. Andrea Tinnes (Berlin) viewed 695 posters out of 251 submitters at the final jury meeting.
The inaugural exhibition with presentation of all posters and presentation of the yearbook, which will again be published by Verlag Kettler, Dortmund, will be opened on June 13, 2019 in the Kulturforum Potsdamer Platz of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and will subsequently be in Vienna, Nuremberg, Lucerne, Essen, Zurich, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Geneva, Seoul and from October 11 to 20, 2019 also at the HfG Karlsruhe.
The competition "100 Best Posters of the Year", launched in its origins in the mid 60s in the GDR, has been organized since 1991 by the Association of Graphic Designers e. V. (VGD) continued in a unified Germany and since the year 2001 in the sponsorship of the 100 Best Posters e. V. for the German-speaking countries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The aim of the competition is to identify the 100 best entries from all submissions and to present them equally – without ranking, without prizes – in several exhibitions and a yearbook.
